From Hero to plain old Dad in one easy misunderstanding

At breakfast yesterday we had juice.

This is not that common in the Hindle house, but good offers are what they are and so we had juice.

I told Heidi that we would take Tom up a glass so he could get some vitamins as he is working hard and is very tired at the moment.

Why she asks.

'Well, he has a deadline to meet and so we wont get to see him much this week but we are going to spend all weekend with him and Monday too'. (thanksgiving in this country. Yes Ruth, Another day off!)

Breakfast continued until my sweet girl piped up.

'What a real lion!'
'Did he kill it?'

At which point breakfast stopped because I could no longer continue for trying not to laugh.

Hands up who thinks vitamins will help in the quest of killing lions.

Heidi is now in the proud possession of a new word. That and a story which will be retold for the rest of her life!

This is the Hindle family girls, as drawn by Heidi, October 2011. She's in the middle with the dress, I'm one side, Hopie the other. I forget who's wearing what.

Sisters

Juat a few shots of the girls doing what they do!
They were too cute on Sunday morning not to take the time to snap a few cuties.
We tried posed, but I don't have the shutter speed to catch them both looking good.
This is what happened straight after. Heidi insisted on playing with a red cow. Red! With a pink dress and I want cool shots! Oh well. Hope just wanted to play. We usually have a chair half blocking off the toy box so she is enjoying being able to access it easily at the moment. (more on the room change around another time).

I love this shot of them at the park, we're making the most of this crazy hot weather. This time last year we were making snow owls on the deck and thinking up baby names. What a contrast.

Hope eats beetroot

We got a little fancy with our meals round here lately. Heidi has been growing beetroot in her garden and so it's time to start using it!

Last week I blended 3 small roasted beets into the carrot and lentil soup I found in the freezer.

It made an amazing coloured soup to which we added a dolup of sour cream. It looked super fancy until Heidi stirred it in just before I took a picture. The sour cream makes it taste so good. But then I think that sour cream makes most things taste good. Heidi claims that the soup tasted sour but I suspect she was just getting clever at association.

Hope it willing to eat anything.

She tucked in (with a little help from her Mum. It was beetroot after all.

After a taste she wasn't quite sure anymore.

But she ate it anyway.

For the record, she is now returned to a normal colour.
